Mark was a good friend of my son, Keith Hume. They spent lots of time together in high school. Mark used to come to the house where we lived at that time. I'd like to say to his mother, Virginia, that I grieve for you and your family over the loss of your son. No parent should have a child die before them, in my opinion. And especially not two dear ones. I am so sorry. May the Lord bless you and comfort you. Sincerely, Judy Clarke (formerly Hume)

I met Mark November 2016 at bay mechanical and he welcomed me as if he had known me forever.
He was a sweet and kind person that made the best cakes and breads I've ever eaten.
I am so sorry for all of your loss.
May God bless, comfort and give each one of you peace.

Mark was my childhood & teen years best friend all through grade and high School. The times we spent together were filled with fun, laughter and adventure. I must have spent more time at the Smeland house on Bay Island with Mark, Daryl, Andy and Debbie (as well as Mr. & Mrs. Smeland!) than I did at my own home!! They were all great times and lifelong memories. What a wonderful and special family -- I share in their tremendous

I had the privledge of knowing Mark through work and as a neighbor for the last 12 years. He had a unique sense of humor that always made me laugh. Sometimes he would surprise me and show up at my house or office with a cream pie he made. They were incredibly good! I will think of Mark each day as I drive by his house and remember what a great friend and man he was. My wife's and my thoughts and prayers are for all Mark's family and friends.

I had the special privilege of knowing Mark and Darrell Smeland, Darrell from the crazy 80s at the oceanfront, and later Mark from the club we hunted in together from the early 90s.
Mark was a gentle giant always willing to help out with whatever he could for us at the club especially my father Spider.
Mark was funny, witty and genuine, I know he will be missed very dearly by all that knew him.
