Dean passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017.

Dean was a resident of Yorktown, Virginia at the time of passing.

Also survived by his brother Dr. Robert Rives Bailey (Betty), his sister-in-law Anne Marie Bailey, his nieces and nephews Francie Bailey, Lynn Bailey Saxton, Elizabeth Bailey Bramham, Robert Rives Bailey, Jr. and Katie Bailey Cowen, as well as a host of beloved extended family, including his former wife of 43 years, Susan Bruton Cole.Mr. Bailey attended Walsingham Academy in Williamsburg, graduated from Hampden-Sydney College (Kappa Sigma fraternity) and continued his graduate studies at the Col.

A memorial service is being planned for Spring 2018.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to The Watermen's Museum, P.O. Box 519, 309 Water Street, Yorktown, Virginia 23690-0519.
