Col. Gullen was born on June 22, 1934 and passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018.

Col. Gullen was a resident of Newport News, Virginia at the time of passing.

In 1956, John graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Commission in the Regular U.S. Army.
