Born on October 29, 1949 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, she grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She graduated from Reynolds High School and attended Greensboro College. Soon after, Patti started her career with Dominion Bank and First National Exchange Bank. She then became a stay at home mother and wife where she provided a loving home for her family for decades. Patti married Jerome F. Clark, "Jerry", in Williamsburg on April 19, 1980, and he never left her side during her illness. Their love for each other was profoundly felt by all who knew them during their 37 years of marriage. Patti and Jerry were world travelers and lived life to the fullest. Patti held many cherished friendships close to her heart. She welcomed everyone into her home and was always there when you needed her. She had a passion for cooking for her family and friends. She was also influential in the leadership of her neighborhood in Kingsmill.
Patti is survived by her husband, Jerry; her daughters, Kelly Clark LaPointe (husband Tom LaPointe) and J. Erin Clark (fiancé Brandon Kline); and her granddaughter, Lillian Clark LaPointe. She is also survived by her sister, Cherri Pate Olson; brother, Robert B. Pate; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cleveland Rudolph Pate; mother, Jeanne Pate Mothena; step-father, Kenneth D. Mothena; and sister, Priscilla Dawne Pate.
